Councilwoman Janice Hahn will speak. February 5, 2009 Thursday 6:00pm. The City of Los Angeles would like to invite you to a meeting to discuss the implementation of Housing That Works, a five year strategy for housing in Los Angeles. In the fall of 2007, the City organized a listening tour on housing issues. During the listening tour, they heard from a wide variety of community members from across the city about their visions for a citywide housing plan. This input was crucial in shaping HousingThat Works. Launched in October 2008, this is the city’s first comprehensive plan for bringing the housing market back into balance for all of Los Angeles’ working families. Given the success of the first listening tour (discussion was led by Deputy Mayor Helmi Hisserich), we would like to come back to discuss Housing That Works and other pressing housing issues facing Los Angeles. At this meeting, we will discuss the impact of Measure R, the recently passed $32 billion transportation bond, on housing and the plan to stabilize neighborhoods negatively affected by the foreclosure crisis. Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss the proposed mixed income ordinance. This ordinance is a crucial element to increase the housing choices available to Angelenos across the City. This is a valuable opportunity for you to continue to shape housing policy in Los Angeles. We very much value your input and thus hope that you will be able to attend this important meeting. The forum will be held at Cabrillo Marina Plaza, Berth 28, 224 Whalers Walk, San Pedro CA 90731. Please RSVP with me by January16th. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Ricardo Hong, Harbor Area Director,City of Los Angeles, 310/732-4630 |
