Topic: Concerns, Suggestions for SP Cable TV ServiceJune 18, 2003 Telecommunications Bureau Attn: Liza M. Lowery, Chief Information Officer Dear Ms. Lowery: I am writing to express the concerns of our organization, the Northwest San Pedro Neighborhood Council, about the conditions of the renewal of the above cable franchise. Our Board did not take a position on the renewal by Comcast (formerly AT&T). However, no objections were voiced to the continuation of their contract. Instead, our Board members have three suggestions that would improve service for our residents: 1. Provide an outlet for the community to learn about how to use television by setting up a studio at the administrative building at Peck Park. 2. Televise the monthly meetings of our Neighborhood Council. Neighborhood Councils are the local agency responsible for linking citizens with their government. The Board members are all volunteer, and the monthly meetings of Northwest San Pedro Neighborhood Council are a great place to learn about what is going on in one’s local community. 3. Although we are not sure how to achieve it in this round of renewals, we strongly believe San Pedro should be served by one cable company. Cox Cable and Comcast split our community at 9th Street, which splits coverage of our community and makes no sense at all. We would like to meet with Comcast representatives to discuss how to implement these ideas. In addition, we appreciate your representative attending our meeting and sharing with us the importance of the renewal process. Sincerely, John R. Greenwood cc: Comcast Cable
