Jurisdiction over Western Avenue

Whereas traffic on Western Avenue is a significant ongoing concern to the San Pedro and Rancho Palos Verdes communities; and

Whereas significant additional housing, recreational and educational development has been proposed which will use Western Avenue as a primary access and further increase the traffic problem; and

Whereas portions of Western Avenue are now under the jurisdiction of CalTrans, the County of Los Angeles, Rancho Palos Verdes and the City of Los Angeles; and

Whereas the City of Los Angeles would have more flexibility in ameliorating the problems associated with Western Avenue;

Therefore be it resolved, that the NWSPNC requests that the Council Office initiate a study of the mechanics and feasibility of taking over jurisdiction of Western Avenue from PV Drive North south to Royal Palms, excluding those areas not under jurisdiction of Cal Trans.
